I originally thought this happened about ten years ago, but it's been fifteen years. Fifteen years! Oh my.
Recently, I watched a few Marx Brothers movies. When Groucho suggestively wriggled his eyebrows, every once in a while I serenely murmured to myself: "Nevermore."
The last panel demonstrates how far away I am still from finding a clean style, suitable for this kind of medium. There is so much going on in that drawing that the main visual joke (the cobwebs) are utterly buried in linework and shading.
Never mind the ridiculous rendering of the folds in the t-shirt in the second panel... (cringe!)
