One of the first reader e-mails I received told me: "Stop putting yourself down!"
Some seem think that my attitide is a put-on. It isn't. I look around and all I see is people whose abilities exceed mine by far.
The thing about drawing backgrounds is... I'd like to draw more of them and sometimes I do. Most times, however, they don't get inked.
At some point during the sketch or pencil stage, I suddenly realize that the background will only serve to clutter things up, so I leave them be.
The wife's complaint seems to have had an effect. (Are you wondering whether Andy will also get new clothes? At this point, so am I.)
