Are you aware of the phrase "counting eyeballs"? Apparently, it's as thankless a task as herding cats.
Third part in a series (part 1, part 2) .
In the sketchbook, this strip looked like an easy one to do. Sketches can be so darned deceiving.
Only when I started drawing every pupil, every reflection in the iris, making sure that every eye has some semblance of a lid above it, embedded the teeth in the gums... only then I started to realize what I was in for.
And then came the color stage. Suddenly I was looking back at five hours of work for a gag which will largely be shrugged over.
